State Bank of Pakistan New currency Issuance

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has initiated the process for designing and issuing a New Banknotes Series of all existing denominations.

It is an established practice of central banks to introduce new banknote series after every fifteen to twenty years to secure the integrity of banknotes and align them with the latest technological developments in the banknotes design and security features.

Ever notice how bills wear out after years of changing hands? Well, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is giving our beloved rupees a makeover! They’re designing a brand new series of banknotes, and guess what? They want you to help!

That’s right, artists, designers, and art students across Pakistan, this is your chance to become a national star by creating the face of the next generation of rupees. The SBP is hosting an Art Competition to find the most innovative and thematic designs for all seven denominations of our currency.

From mountains to monuments, history to heroes, let your imagination run wild! The judges are looking for designs that capture the essence of Pakistan, celebrating our diverse culture, stunning landscapes, and inspiring symbols.

Imagine showcasing the mighty Indus, the vibrant bazaars, or the historic site of Harappa on the new notes. Or you may want to highlight important moments in our history or pay tribute to national heroes. Whatever your vision, make it unique and unforgettable.

Ready to win big? The top three designs for each denomination will walk away with exciting cash prizes. Plus, your artwork could be featured on millions of banknotes, becoming a part of everyday life in Pakistan.

All existing bank notes will remain in circulation even after the issuance of new series.
