Missile Strikes Target Jaish al Adl Bases in Pakistan, Prompting Strong Response

On Tuesday, two bases of the Balochi militant group Jaish al Adl in Pakistan were reportedly hit by missiles, according to Iranian state media.

This development comes just a day after Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards launched missile attacks on targets in Iraq and Syria.

Jaish al Adl has previously carried out attacks on Iranian security forces in the border region with Pakistan. Iranian state media confirmed the destruction of these bases due to missile and drone strikes but provided no further details.

Pakistani Response on Iranian Attack

While Iran has engaged in border skirmishes against militants in the past, a missile-and-drone assault on Pakistan represents an unprecedented move.

Reports from Iran specified that the strikes occurred in the mountains of Pakistan’s Baluchistan province.

Iran’s Nournews, associated with the country’s top security body, identified the attacked bases as being in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. Both IRNA news agency and state television confirmed the use of missiles and drones in the strikes.

Press TV, the English-language arm of Iranian state television, attributed the attack to Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard.

Jaish al-Adl, established in 2012, is a Sunni militant group that predominantly operates in Pakistan, frequently claiming responsibility for bombings and kidnappings of Iranian border police.

Jan Achakzai, the information minister of Pakistan’s Balochistan province, declined to confirm or deny the attack, suggesting to await the response from ISPR, the Pakistani military’s public relations wing.

In response to the missile strikes, Pakistan reported the tragic deaths of two children and warned of potentially serious consequences, deeming the incident “completely unacceptable.”

A strong protest has been lodged with Iranian authorities, emphasizing the violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and placing responsibility for the consequences squarely on Iran, according to an official statement.
